Multiple Stops and Routes: a Two-Hour Solution for One Fair Price

To make traveling on Metro more convenient, Metro has implemented fare components designed to better meet passenger needs. These tools are helpful if you need to make multiple stops or even to go back and forth. Aboard MetroBus it is called a "Multi-Use Transfer" and aboard MetroLink it is called a "Two-Hour Pass", but regardless, each of these tools are valid for Metro System travel - - on both MetroBus and MetroLink - - in any direction for two hours, all for one fair price!

Upon paying the appropriate amount for MetroBus Fare with Multi-Use Transfer, a MetroBus Operator will issue you a Multi-Use Transfer that shows the date and two-hour expiration time. This Multi-Use Transfer is valid only for the person to whom it was originally issued. (If, however, you purchased a Two-Hour Pass and it has not yet been validated at a MetroLink Station, the MetroBus Operator will take the Pass and issue a Multi-Use Transfer valid for two hours of travel). Upon transferring to additional MetroBus vehicles simply present this Transfer to the Operator for verification of the correct date and expiration time. If you need to make additional transfers, ask the MetroBus Operator to return the Transfer to you for use on additional Metro vehicles. Expired or invalid Transfers will be kept and not be honored, and you will need to pay an additional Metro fare to board and complete your trip.

If you desire to transfer to MetroLink, be prepared to show your Multi-Use Transfer to the Fare Inspector for verification of the correct date and expiration time. Fare Inspectors will keep expired or invalid Multi-Use Transfers and they may issue you a citation and fine for failure to have valid fare. In addition, if the valid time on the Multi-Use Transfers has elapsed, you will need to deboard and purchase an additional Metro fare to complete your trip

Upon boarding MetroLink, be sure that your Two-Hour Pass is validated. The Pass is valid only for the person to whom it was originally issued. If you deboard MetroLink and thereafter board another MetroLink train, display the Pass to the Fare Inspector for verification of the correct date and expiration time. Fare Inspectors will keep expired or invalid Two-Hour Passes and they may issue you a citation and fine for failure to have valid fare. In addition, if the valid time on the Pass has elapsed, you will need to deboard and purchase an additional Metro fare to complete your trip.

If you desire to transfer to MetroBus, present the Pass to the MetroBus Operator who will take it for verification of the correct date and expiration time. If you need to make additional transfers, the MetroBus Operator will issue you a Multi-Use Transfer, valid until the expiration time, for use on additional Metro vehicles. Expired or invalid Passes or Multi-Use Transfers will not be honored, and you will need to pay an additional Metro fare to board and complete your trip.
