Multiple Stops and Routes: a Two-Hour Solution for One Fair Price

To make traveling on Metro more convenient, Metro has implemented fare components designed to better meet passenger needs. These tools are helpful if you need to make multiple stops or they may even be used for round trip rides. When you purchase the fare on MetroBus, the fare media is called a "Multi-Use Transfer". When you purchase the fare aboard MetroLink, the fare media is called a "Two-Hour Pass". Regardless, both of these tools are valid for any Metro System travel, on both MetroBus and MetroLink, in any direction for two hours, all for one fair price!

If Your Trip Begins on MetroBus

Upon paying the appropriate amount for a MetroBus Fare that includes a Multi-Use Transfer, a MetroBus operator will issue you a Multi-Use Transfer that shows the date and two-hour expiration time window for travel. This Multi-Use Transfer is valid only for the person to whom it was originally issued. If you purchase a Two-Hour Pass and it has not yet been validated at a MetroLink Station, the MetroBus Operator will take the Two-Hour Pass and issue a Multi-Use Transfer valid for two hours of travel. Upon transferring to additional MetroBus vehicles, simply present this transfer to the operator for verification of the correct date and expiration time. If you need to make additional transfers, ask the MetroBus operator to return the Multi-Use Transfer to you for use on additional Metro vehicles. Expired or invalid Multi-Use Transfer not be honored; customers with invalid transfers will need to pay an additional Metro fare to board and complete the trip.

If you desire to transfer to MetroLink, be prepared to show your Multi-Use Transfer to a Fare Inspector for verification of the correct date and expiration time. Fare Inspectors will keep expired or invalid Multi-Use Transfers and they may issue a citation and a fine for failure to present proof of purchase of a valid fare. In addition, if the valid time on the Multi-Use Transfers has elapsed, customers will need to exit the train to purchase an additional Metro fare to complete the trip.

If Your Trip Begins On MetroLink

Upon boarding MetroLink, be sure that your Two-Hour Pass is validated. The Pass is valid only for the person to whom it was originally issued. If you exit the train and thereafter board another MetroLink train, display the Two-Hour Pass to the Fare Inspector for verification of the correct date and expiration time. Fare Inspectors will keep expired or invalid Two-Hour Passes and they may issue you a citation and fine for failure to present proof of purchase of a valid fare. In addition, if the valid time on the Two-Hour Pass has elapsed, you will need to exit the train and purchase an additional Metro fare to complete your trip.

If you desire to transfer to MetroBus, present the Two-Hour Pass to the MetroBus operator who will take verify the correct date and expiration time on the pass. If you need to make additional transfers, the MetroBus Operator will issue you a Multi-Use Transfer, which will be valid until the time of expiration on the transfer. Expired or invalid Multi-Use Transfer not be honored; customers with invalid transfers will need to pay an additional Metro fare to board and complete the trip.
