The Metro Board of Commissioners during its regular meeting this morning authorized a fare increase to go into effect on July 1, 2012, the beginning of the new fiscal year. The Board decision to raise fares had been postponed for two years. Last month, Metro invited the public to four meetings to learn more about three fare increase options and share their opinions.

Metro Transit customers will have two opportunities to share their transit experiences by participating in special surveys which begin later this week. The surveys will provide valuable feedback about who uses Metro, where customers travel, and how satisfied they are with Metro Transit services.

Metro will not operate trains between the Wellston MetroLink Station and the North Hanley MetroLink Station this Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20 due to construction near the UMSL South MetroLink Station. Customers will be transported by bus shuttles between those stations and should allow an extra 20 to 25 minutes for their commutes Saturday and Sunday.

Metro will not operate trains between the Stadium MetroLink Station and the 5th & Missouri MetroLink Station Sunday morning to accommodate work on the overhead wires for MetroLink. Red and Blue Line passengers will be transported by bus shuttles to the stations located between the Stadium and 5th & Missouri MetroLink Stations from the beginning of service on Sunday, April 22, until noon.
