Construction and Repairs on MetroLink Line Impact Weekend Service

MetroLink will operate on a single track at the Central West End MetroLink Station on Saturday, October 15, 2011 and Sunday, October 16, 2011. Red Line and Blue Line passengers will experience 5-10 minute delays Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The single track operation will allow crews to make repairs in the Kingshighway Tunnel.

MetroLink will also operate on a single track at the East Riverfront MetroLink Station nights this weekend to accommodate construction near the station. Starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, October 15 and at 8 p.m. Sunday, October 16, until end of service both nights, the Blue Line service will ONLY operate between the Shrewsbury and Civic Center MetroLink Stations. Eastbound Blue Line passengers who want to travel east of the Civic Center station will need to transfer to a Red Line train at the Civic Center station to continue eastbound. Westbound Blue Line passengers will need to take a Red Line train to travel between the Fairview Heights and the Civic Center MetroLink Stations. They will then need to transfer to a Blue Line train at the Civic Center station. These passengers should allow an extra 10 minutes for their commutes. Red Line customers will not experience any delays on the MetroLink system during the evening construction work.

From beginning of service until 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday morning, Blue Line passengers will experience delays of approximately 10 minutes. The Blue Line will ONLY run between the Civic Center and Shrewsbury MetroLink Stations to accommodate work at the East Riverfront MetroLink Station. Red Line passengers will also be impacted by the work and should allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes for their commutes this Saturday and Sunday morning before 8 a.m.
