Holiday Magic Train Concerts Are Back This Year With Live Music at Metro Transit Centers

Metro transit commuters will hear the sounds of the season again this year aboard the Holiday Magic Train. Live music is scheduled this Saturday, November 30 as well as the following Saturday, December 7. In addition to the Holiday Magic Train concerts, there will be variety of musical groups performing at several Metro transit centers throughout the holiday season.
To kick off the holiday season, the Charles Glenn Duo will present on-board concerts on the Holiday Magic Train. They will perform on the Blue Line on Saturday, November 30, starting at 1:12 p.m. and will continue for approximately two hours. On Saturday, December 7, Beth Bombara will perform on the Holiday Magic Train on the Red Line starting at 1:02 p.m. for approximately two hours. Both concerts will begin and end at the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station, first traveling westbound on the Holiday Magic Train.
The Blue Line travels to Shrewsbury before returning to Fairview Heights, and the Red Line goes to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport before heading back to Fairview Heights. The cost of the concert is a ticket to ride. Metro customers can board at any MetroLink Station along the way with a valid ticket or Metro pass.
At several Metro transit centers, a variety of musical groups will perform 30-minute concerts.
• The Bayless High School Xpression will perform at 5 p.m. at the North Hanley MetroLink Station on December 5, and again at 5 p.m. on December 10 at the Central West End MetroLink Station.
• The Salvation Army Brass Ensemble will perform at 5 p.m. on December 12 at the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station, and again at 5:30 p.m. on December 17 at the Civic Center MetroLinkStation.
The Holiday Magic Train is a partnership between the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission (CVC) and Metro transit. This is the fourth year the train has traveled on the Red and Blue MetroLink Lines to bring holiday cheer to thousands of area commuters. The decorated train is a winter wonderland of blue and silver ornaments and white snowflake ornaments with garland. Snowflake decals decorate the train windows and big holiday wreaths adorn the front and back of the Holiday Magic Train.
The Holiday Magic Train is in service from November 29 through December 31. Customers will generally find it on the Red Line on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from around 4 a.m. until approximately 6:30 p.m. and on the Blue Line on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:50 a.m. to nearly 6:30 p.m.
On Saturdays, the Holiday Magic Train operates from around 10 a.m. to approximately 6:45 p.m. and it will alternate between the Red Line and the Blue Line. On Tuesday, December 25, the Holiday Magic Train will operate from approximately 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Sunday schedule frequency.
The Bi-State Development Agency (BSDA) is the operator of the Metro public transportation system for the St. Louis Region, which includes the 87 vehicle, 46-mile MetroLink light rail system; 374 MetroBus vehicle fleet that operates on 75 MetroBus routes; and Metro Call‑A‑Ride, a paratransit fleet of 121 vans.
BSDA also owns and operates St. Louis Downtown Airport and its surrounding industrial business park, and the Gateway Arch Riverboats, as well as operates the Gateway Arch Revenue Collections Center, the Gateway Arch Transportation System, and the Gateway Arch Parking Facility.
