MetroLink Rail Grinding Maintenance Work Continues

Dianne Williams
Director of Communications
314-982-1440

MetroLink rail grinding maintenance work continues in the evenings and that will impact some Red Line customers who should allow extra time for their nightly commutes tonight through Thursday night, March 19-22. MetroBus shuttles will supplement MetroLink service in the work area Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight until the end of service, MetroLink will conduct rail grinding on the tracks between the Wellston MetroLink Station and the Forest Park MetroLink Station. To accommodate the crews, MetroLink will operate on a single track at the Delmar MetroLink Station and the Forest Park MetroLink Station. Red Line and Blue Line customers may experience five minute delays.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights until the end of service, MetroLink will conduct rail grinding on the tracks between the Wellston MetroLink Station and the North Hanley MetroLink Station. To accommodate the crews, most MetroLink trains will operate on a single track at the Wellston MetroLink Station, Rock Road MetroLink Station, UMSL South MetroLink Station, UMSL North MetroLink Station, and North Hanley MetroLink Station. From 8 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., several trains will stop at the Wellston MetroLink Station and passengers will need to get off the train and onto MetroBus shuttles to be transported to the Rock Road MetroLink Station, the UMSL South MetroLink Station, the UMSL North MetroLink Station, and the North Hanley MetroLink Station.

Once westbound customers arrive via shuttle bus at the North Hanley MetroLink Station, they can board a westbound train and continue their commutes to the Lambert Airport terminals.

Once eastbound passengers arrive by shuttle bus at the Wellston MetroLink Station, they can board an eastbound train and continue their commutes. After 11:30 p.m., all trains will operate on the single track through that area so the bus shuttles will be cancelled.

Some Red Line customers will experience no delays while those who are transported by shuttle bus will encounter 20-minute delays from the Wellston MetroLink Station to the Lambert Airport Main Terminal.

Blue Line service will not be affected by the evening work Tuesday through Thursday.
