Terminal #1 MetroLink Station at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport Will Temporarily Close Starting July 27
The Lambert Airport Terminal #1 MetroLink Station will temporarily close for two weeks at the end of July as construction crews perform rehabilitation work at the station at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Crews will repair concrete, paint, add tactile strips to the station platform, upgrade the electrical system and install new lights at the station. The Lambert Airport Terminal #1 Station will close on July 27 and should reopen on Monday, August 10.
During the construction, MetroLink service will end at the Lambert Airport Terminal #2 MetroLink Station, and the airport will operate free Terminal Shuttles to connect Metro passengers between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. During the Lambert Airport Terminal #1 Station closure:
- Metro passengers heading to Terminal 1: Exit MetroLink train at the Lambert Airport Terminal #2 MetroLink Station. Then, board a Terminal Shuttle at Entry 12 of Terminal 2 to complete trip to Terminal 1.
- Metro passengers leaving Terminal 1: Board a Terminal Shuttle at Entry 12 of Terminal 1 to travel to Terminal 2. Then, head to the Lambert Airport Terminal #2 MetroLink Station and board an eastbound MetroLink train.
The airport will have signage to help direct passengers to the Terminal Shuttles. Riders are encouraged to allow extra time during these trips, as they may experience delays of up to 30 minutes when using the Terminal Shuttles to travel between the two terminals.
MetroLink Red Line service outside of Lambert Airport Terminal #1 Station will not be affected, and trains will operate on normal weekday and weekend schedules during the rehabilitation project. Metro crews will also perform maintenance work on the closed section of track during the station closure.
From 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, until end of service on Sunday, July 26, one side of the Lambert Airport Terminal #1 Station platform will be closed as crews begin preparing for the rehabilitation project.
MetroLink customers will still be able to use the Lambert Airport Terminal #1 Station during that weekend, but will access trains only on one side of the platform. MetroLink will operate on a normal weekday schedule on Friday, July 24, and on a normal weekend schedule on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26.
The Lambert Airport Terminal #1 and Lambert Airport Terminal #2 MetroLink Stations are owned by Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. The airport is managing the project contractor and funding the improvements to the Lambert Airport Terminal #1 Station. This is the first major rehabilitation of the station since it opened in 1994.
