Avoid Traffic Jams and Slippery Roads: Ride MetroLink
Return to Blog
Are you tired of snow-covered roads making you late for work (or late getting home)? Ride MetroLink.
The weather hasn’t been too friendly to our roadways recently, and that’s led to area drivers getting caught in bumper-to-bumper gridlock and stressful, dangerous driving conditions. Fortunately, there’s a better way – there’s no traffic on the rails!
Ride and relax on MetroLink, and leave the white-knuckled driving and road rage to someone else. Here’s a quick guide on how you can avoid the frustration of winter driving on area interstates and use MetroLink to get to University City, Clayton, the Central West End, downtown St. Louis, the Metro East and other destinations throughout the region:
- East on Interstate 70 – If you find yourself in traffic on I-70, there’s relief just around the corner. Exit at North Hanley Road (Exit 239), park your car at the North Hanley MetroLink Station for free and board an eastbound MetroLink train. Time to downtown St. Louis: it’s only about a 30-minute ride, minus traffic and wasted gas.
- East on Interstate 64 – If you’re tired of seeing taillights on I-64, we’ve got the perfect solution for you. Exit at Brentwood Blvd./Hanley Road (Exit 31B) and head east on Hanley Road to the Meridian parking garage at the Brentwood I-64 MetroLink Station. Park for free and hop on an eastbound MetroLink train. Time to downtown St. Louis: also only about 30 minutes.
- West on Interstate 64 (in Illinois) – If the roads are too slippery in Illinois, we’ve got a plan that has traction. Exit at Illinois Highway 157 (Exit 9) and head south. Make a left at St. Clair Avenue, park for free at the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station and take a westbound MetroLink train. Time to downtown St. Louis: only 20 minutes.
- Interstate 44 – If you’ve had it with icy roads or crummy drivers as you make your way downtown on I-44, the Shrewsbury-Landowne I-44 MetroLink Station is your answer. If you’re headed eastbound, exit at Laclede Station Road/Murdoch Ave. (Exit 282). Westbound, exit at Shrewsbury Avenue (Exit 283). Park for free and hop on an eastbound train. Time to downtown St. Louis: about 30 minutes.
