Bridge Work Affects Service on 4 MetroBus Routes in North St. Louis County

As part of their I-270 North Project, MoDOT is constructing a new West Florissant Avenue bridge over Interstate 270 in North St. Louis County. This project will take approximately four months and West Florissant Avenue will be closed at I-270 through the entire project, which will impact service on four MetroBus routes: #74 Florissant, #76 McDonnell-Waterford, #77 Village Square, #79 Ferguson.
The MoDOT project will impact the four MetroBus routes in different ways over the next four months. Check out the information below for specific information on your route.
MetroBus Adjustments – Phase I
Effective now through June 17
- #76 McDonnell-Waterford (MAP) – Southbound trips departing North County Transit Center will now travel east on Pershall, north on New Halls Ferry, west on Dunn Rd., and then resume its regular route on Waterford.
- #77 Village Square (MAP) – All trips will use Dunn Rd. and New Halls Ferry when traveling to and from the North County Transit Center.
MetroBus Adjustments – Phase II
May 19 through June 17
- #74 Florissant (MAP) – Northbound trips will not serve Florissant Valley campus of St. Louis Community College, but campus will be served by southbound trips. Southbound trips will be rerouted east on Pershall, north on New Halls Ferry, west on Dunn Rd, south on Washington/Elizabeth, east on Pershall to Florissant Valley campus, and then resume regular route.
- #79 Ferguson (MAP) – Southbound trips departing North County Transit Center will now travel east on Pershall, north on New Halls Ferry and then west on Dunn Rd. where it resumes its regular route.
- #76 McDonnell-Waterford (MAP) – Same reroute as Phase I
- #77 Village Square (MAP) – Same reroute as Phase I
MetroBus Adjustments – Phase III
June 25 through July 25
- #76 McDonnell-Waterford (MAP) – No longer operates Phase I reroute. New reroute on southbound trips, west on Pershall to Washington/Elizabeth at Dunn, bus will continue north on Washington, east on Derhake and then resume its regular route.
- #77 Village Square (MAP) – No longer operates Phase I reroute. New reroute for all trips, will use Seven Hills and New Halls Ferry when traveling to and from the North County Transit Center.
- #74 Florissant and #79 Ferguson return to their regular routes.
MetroBus Adjustments – Phase IV
July 19 through July 27
- #76 McDonnell-Waterford (MAP) – No longer operates Phase III reroute. New reroute on southbound trips departing North County Transit Center, east on Pershall, north on New Halls Ferry, west on Dunn Rd., and then resume its regular route on Waterford.
- #77 Village Square (MAP) – No longer operates Phase III reroute. New reroute for all trips, will use Dunn Rd. and New Halls Ferry when traveling to and from the North County Transit Center.
The #71 Patterson-Redman, #78 Bellefontaine and #174X Halls Ferry Express will not be affected by the bridge construction and will stay on their regular routes during the project. The new West Florissant Avenue bridge over I‑270 is expected to open in August 2021.
