CMT Metro Market Brings Food, Fun & More to Rock Road MetroLink StationReturn to Blog
Grab a quick bite to eat, do a little shopping and enjoy family fun at the Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) Metro Market on Friday, June 5 at the Rock Road MetroLink Station.
From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a portion of the station’s parking lot will transform into a “pop-up” market featuring local food, live music, giveaways and children’s activities.
The CMT Metro Market is part of Beyond Housing’s First Fridays event series, and was developed in partnership with Metro, Beyond Housing and Great Rivers Greenway. The goal of the Metro Market is to create a real-world experience that highlights the impact transit-oriented development can make in our communities.
“CMT has been talking about the benefits of building and living near transit for several years. We thought the best next step would be to put our words into action and give the St. Louis community the opportunity to see some of this type of investment in action. When you board or deboard the train, what would you like to see, buy, or enjoy within walking distance of your transit ride?” said Kimberly Cella, Executive Director of Citizens for Modern Transit.
Some of the vendors, booths and activities you can find at the Metro Market include:
- Press Play Live Band
- Veggie Patch Urban Farm
- American Lung Association
- Pink House – retail and art on-site for children
- MOBot Master Gardener Education group
- Children’s activities including photo booth, balloon art, face painters, bus photo cutout and more
- Bike Helmet Fittings for children through Cardinal Glennon
- HOSCO Foods
- Cooking demonstrations
- Natural Bridge Library promoting Summer Reading Program
- Kona Ice Truck
- Beyond Housing
- Great Rivers Greenway
- Metro transit
Swing by the Rock Road MetroLink Station Friday and start the weekend off on the right foot. We hope to see you there!
