It should be a little easier to visit your favorite St. Louis attractions in Forest Park starting this Saturday, if you catch the #3 Metro Forest Park Trolley.
The Trolley will be back in service in Forest Park for the summer season and will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 3 through Sept. 28 with expanded hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The Trolley will run every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on weekends.
The #3 Forest Park Trolley connects all the park attractions with the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station. It is a partnership between Forest Park Forever, Bi-State Development Agency/Metro, Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis Science Center, Saint Louis Zoo, and the City of St. Louis.
During peak park usage on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the #90 Hampton MetroBus route will be rerouted outside Forest Park. This will improve on-time performance of the #90 Hampton and help reduce the number of vehicles in the park.
Adult fares are $2 per adult to ride the #3 Forest Park Trolley. Children ages 5 to 12, seniors and disabled passengers can ride for $1. A valid Metro Reduced Fare permit is required for the Senior and Disabled discount. Children 4 and under ride free. Fares are purchased on board the trolley and exact change is required. You can use your Metro Day, Weekly or Monthly Pass to ride the trolley.
You can walk or bicycle to any of our transit centers or drive to one our 19 free Park-Ride lots and catch MetroLink to the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station. From there, you can ride the #3 Forest Park Trolley into the park.
If you prefer to drive to Forest Park, there are two convenient Park N’ Ride options inside the park for Forest Park visitors: the Twin Parking Lots across from the Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center and the Upper Muny Parking Lot. From these lots, visitors can hop on and off the Forest Park Trolley all day to get to their desired park attractions.
The #3 Forest Park Trolley’s whimsical window graphic design has been updated so you can see in and out of the windows. The #99 Downtown Trolley graphic design was also updated. Both updated designs are in response to customer concerns about not being able to see in or out of the trolleys.
You will still see colorful images related to Forest Park, such as a dinosaur, representing the Saint Louis Science Center and a giraffe, representing the Saint Louis Zoo, on the #3 Forest Park Trolley.
The #99 Downtown Trolley sports an updated caricature design, which depicts people who ride that trolley, such as professionals as well as families.
