Guaranteed Ride Home
Return to BlogBrowsing at Citizens for Modern Transit the other morning, I was reminded about their Guaranteed Ride Home program, and I thought the information was worth passing along. Check out the link, but basically the Guaranteed Ride Home serves as a “security blanket” for commuters who want to use bike or transit to get to and from work, but are worried about emergencies or unscheduled overtime that causes them to miss the transit connection they need. It is free to sign up, and the benefit is that CMT pays for most of the cost of arranging an alternate ride if it becomes necessary.
When would you use it?
- You need to stay later than your last bus connection.
- You took the bus to work, but need to leave suddenly because your family member was injured or became ill.
It’s a sort of transit insurance, so you needn’t worry that you’ll be stuck at work in case of an emergency. Metro provides reliable, on-time service, but it’s nice to know that someone out there has your back, just in case.
