MetroLink Fare Survey Starts April 6
Return to BlogMetro will conduct its annual spring MetroLink Fare Survey April 6 to April 30. Data collected during the survey allows Metro to evaluate how passengers pay their transit fare and what type of ticket or pass they use to ride. This information supports fare revenue analysis and smart card development.
Fare surveyors will visit all 37 MetroLink stations over the next few weeks, and you can identify them by their badges, which display the Metro logo along with either “Survey Supervisor” or “Surveyor” printed on them. Fare surveyors will also be carrying clipboards and wearing khaki or dark slacks and white, button-down shirts.
MetroLink riders will be greeted as they enter the platform, and surveyors will observe and document the type of fare (single-ride ticket, monthly pass, etc.) they are using to ride the system.
If you have questions about the survey, please contact Metro’s Customer Service Department at 314-982-1406 or 618-271-7879, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thanks for the information, Matthew! I hope this survey gives Metro a good idea of how people pay for service!
Quick question about the smartcard availability. I haven’t seen any updates on that front lately. Are there plans to roll it out to the general public soon, or is more testing required? Thanks!
Hey John! The more data that we can pull from various sources, including from transit surveys, the better we can fine-tune transit services. As for the Gateway Card, we are still in final testing and we expect to introduce one last round of testers before we move forward on releasing the Gateway Card to the public. The trick with the system is that we’re actually integrating two separate systems — one for the bus and one for train. We also want to make sure that when we do release the Gateway Card there are no glitches. Stay tuned!
