MetroLink Signal System Repaired; Work Continues to Restore Communications System

Return to Blog

MetroLinkRepairs to the MetroLink signal system near the Emerson Park MetroLink Station were completed ahead of schedule around 5 a.m. on June 19. Crews had been working around the clock for more than a week to restore the signal system there. They are still working to restore the communications system for the same area around Emerson Park. Until the communications system is repaired, customers must continue to use cash to purchase tickets and passes at the ticket vending machines at the Emerson Park MetroLink Station. The machines temporarily cannot process debit or credit card purchases.

Equipment for both the MetroLink communications and signal systems was damaged back on June 11 when high voltage power lines were knocked down by a vehicle near the Emerson Park Station. For the safety of passengers, operators, motorists and pedestrians, trains had been required to stop at several crossings between the Emerson Park Station and the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Station. The short delays caused by the stops were eliminated once the trains began operating normally through that section of MetroLink. We would like to thank our customers for their patience during those delays.
