New MetroBus Shuttle Service Begins Monday

Return to Blog

Metro officials announced today that starting Monday, November 28, 2011, a new shuttle route will be offered to MetroBus customers along Russell Boulevard between Grand Boulevard and Gravois Avenue. The new #180 Russell Shuttle will be in service Monday through Friday operating every 40 minutes during rush hour and will provide service in the McKinley Heights neighborhood along Russell Boulevard with direct access for MetroBus customers to the Civic Center MetroLink Station.

The shuttle service is being added in response to a recent favorable funding decision and to customer feedback to the quarterly MetroBus service change which goes into effect on November 28. Metro listened to input from customers regarding the scheduled service changes to the #14 Botanical Garden route, the # 80 Park Shaw route and the #8 Bates Morganford route.

In addition to adding the #180 shuttle service; in January 2012, Metro will return the #8 Bates Morganford to its pre-November 28 route to the Civic Center MetroLink Station and will expand the #80 Park Shaw to serve both the Civic Center and Central West End MetroLink Stations.

The service changes being implemented on November 28 are in response to current ridership demand and Metro’s current funding and future funding outlook. The additional changes described here are in response to customer feedback and can be maintained with stable local and federal funding.  Any future changes in funding levels will necessitate a revision of service levels.

Metro will continue to monitor service performance and customer feedback, and will respond by providing the most effective service plan within our financial resources.

Your blog is completely confusing. I currently ride the #14 from the CWE to The Shaw neighborhood. I was looking forward to connecting with the #80 – finally to get me closer to my home by getting off the #80 at Thurman and Shenandoah. I don’t understand anything you wrote up there, why are the new routes starting next week changing back the way they were in January. I’m really getting sick of all this run around from you guys!

      Robin,

I will try to clarify for you as soon as possible, from our planning department. Thanks!

Robin, I understand, here is a breakdown of what is happening. On Monday, Nov. 28, the #8 and #80 will have changes as originally posted, in addition to shuttle service on Russell Ave. via the #180 Russell shuttle, along with the other November 28 quarterly changes. In January 2012, the #8 will go back to serving the Civic Center, and the #80 will be expanded to serve the Central West End and Civic Center. These changes reflect the most recent customer feedback. Maps and schedules available here: http://metrostlouis.org/PlanYourTrip/ServiceUpdates.aspx Hope this helps!

What kind of vehicle for the #180? A Call-A-Ride Bus like one of the newer ones or the Green Line ones?

Hey! Next service change in early January? Time for me to get to work! Also the new Gilligs with the full-height windows look awsome! This Thanksgiving, I thank the good Lord for granting those guys at Gillig Corporation the talent they have to use creative moves when they build buses!

Please put bustop back at Lee & Gano, walk is too long to connect with Grand at Lee. Got no response from previous email sent concerning the problem.

    1. Patti says:

Doris, thanks for your feedback regarding the bus stop at Lee and Gano. I have forwarded it to our Planning Department.
