Passenger Profile: Tommy
Return to BlogWe recently met up with Tommy, a long-time transit rider, at the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 Transit Center to hear his story about using Metro Transit.
Tommy relies on MetroLink and MetroBus to get to his job in Fenton. However, there was a brief hiccup to his commute a couple weeks ago.
Tommy had just recently returned to the office after being off for a few months, and it wasn’t until he had made it to Shrewsbury before he discovered that one of his normal bus routes had been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fortunately, we were ready to assist. Our Public Safety team and other Metro personnel at Shrewsbury jumped into action, and stayed with Tommy while they connected with our Operations team to secure Metro Call‑A‑Ride services to get him to work on his first day back. And after making an adjustment to his old transit commute, Tommy is back on the buses and trains to get him everywhere he needs to go.
Check out our Q&A with Tommy below, and click on the image to see his passenger profile interview.
How long have you been riding Metro?
I’ve been riding Metro for forever, and a day.
Where do use Metro to travel to?
I take two trains and two buses for work. Metro takes me everywhere.
What do you like best about Metro Transit?
They are responsible, they get me where I need to go and I like meeting people. It’s the best thing. It makes my day when I get on the bus.
What do you like most about St. Louis?
It’s home.
Do you have advice or tips for someone who is new to the system?
Enjoy it. To me it’s like an adventure, because it is an adventure.
Tell us about a time Metro was there for you?
When I came to work, there was no bus to take me to work. There were people here from Metro, they got in contact with Call‑A‑Ride, and got me a bus and took me to work. I was very appreciative of that.
