Passenger Profile: Vickie
Return to BlogPassengers like Vickie depend on Metro Transit to get to work, school and other important destinations. We hope you enjoy her story, and we’re interested in your transit story too. Email [email protected], and we may share your story in a future Passenger Profile.
Each evening, Vickie boards the #73 Carondelet near the intersection of Grand Boulevard and Gravois Avenue in South City.
“It’s very convenient for me to get to work in South County,” she said.
She rides the bus to her job at a state facility near Lemay Ferry and Reavis Barracks. She’s been working in the mental health industry for about eight years.
Vickie does not own a vehicle and uses Metro Transit to get to around town.
“I have been riding Metro Transit for about 19 years,” she said. “Every time I decide to move, I try and choose places that are conducive to Metro Transit. I did that even when I owned a car. Today, the #73 Carondelet is my lifeline to work.”
In addition to the #73 Carondelet, Vickie also uses the #70 Grand, #10 Gravois-Lindell, the #90 Hampton, #34 Earth City, the #99 Downtown Trolley and MetroLink. She uses these routes to head to Laclede’s Landing or to the Gateway Arch grounds for exercise. She also uses the #99 Downtown Trolley to see a movie downtown.
Vickie is a creature of habit and knows the bus schedules by heart, so she appreciates the punctuality of the MetroBus system.
“A lot of drivers are professional,” she said. “They respect the schedule. That’s an important factor.”
