Public Meetings for Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Options Begin September 10

Return to Blog

4_Alts_merged_August 2013The public is invited to attend four interactive open house style meetings September 10, September 11, September 12, and September 17 for the St. Louis Rapid Transit Connector Study.  The St. Louis Rapid Transit Connector Study is an examination of bus-based rapid transit services to better connect people to jobs, schools and all the needs of daily life in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County. The project will analyze four possible corridors before narrowing it down to the two most likely to meet the study’s goals and successfully compete for federal funding. Metro and its study partners, East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWGCOG), St. Louis County, the City of St. Louis, and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), are optimistic that the projects identified by this study will attract funding to support implementation over the next few years.

Four Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) options have been identified: Halls-Ferry Riverview BRT, West Florissant-Natural Bridge BRT, Page Avenue BRT and I-64 Highway BRT. The project team will combine community feedback with technical analysis including ridership projections, expanded access to key destinations, travel time savings, and other performance measures. The public is invited to participate in an online survey on the project through September 21.
