Rider Alert: Allow Extra Time for Your MetroLink Commutes Tonight and Tomorrow Night
Return to BlogIf you plan to take MetroLink after 8 p.m. tonight or tomorrow night (October 22 and 23), you may need to allow a little extra time for your commute. Crews will be working on the MetroLink system at two different locations and that will cause delays for some passengers. The impacted sections of the MetroLink system are:
- Between the College and Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Stations
- Between the Civic Center and Union Station MetroLink Stations
Trains will not operate in Illinois between the College and Shiloh-Scott Stations from 8 p.m. until the end of service tonight and tomorrow night to accommodate ongoing track work. The St. Clair County Transit District will transport Red Line MetroLink customers by MetroBus from the College MetroLink Station to the Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Station. If you are traveling westbound, you can expect 20-25 minute delays and if you are eastbound, you should expect 5 to 10 minute delays.
Westbound Red Line passengers from Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Station will need to board a shuttle bus to travel to the College MetroLink Station. From there, you can board a train to continue west.
Eastbound Red Line passengers will exit the train at the College MetroLink Station and board a shuttle bus to continue your trip to the Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Station. Blue Line service will not be impacted.
MetroLink will operate on a single track between the Civic Center MetroLink Station and the Union Station MetroLink Station from 8 p.m. until the end of service tonight and tomorrow night so crews can conduct track maintenance. Blue Line trains will ONLY operate between the Shrewsbury MetroLink Station and the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station. Blue Line passengers may experience 10 minute delays and Red Line passengers may encounter 5 to 10 minute delays.
If you are a westbound Blue Line passenger traveling between the Fairview Heights Station and the Central West End Station, you should board a Red Line train to the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station to transfer to a Blue Line train.
If you are an eastbound Blue Line passenger traveling between the Central West End Station to the Fairview Heights Station, you will need to board a Red Line train at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Station to continue eastbound.
Updates on MetroLink operations can be found in the Rider Alert section of our website.
