Take a Ride on the #76 Waterford
Return to BlogWith the opening of the North County Transit Center and the introduction of a new MetroBus service plan for North St. Louis County in March, there are a number of new MetroBus routes operating in the region. We’re taking you on a quick tour of each of these new routes so you can get acquainted with these new transit options and see all the places you can go with Metro.
#76 Waterford
The #76 Waterford provides high frequency service between the North County Transit Center and the campus of St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley. It also connects with local shopping centers and residential neighborhoods along Waterford Drive, Lindbergh Boulevard and Highway 367.
On some trips, the #76 Waterford serves as a shuttle between the North County Transit Center and St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley. On other trips, the bus continues past the campus to serve other important parts of North St. Louis County. (Check the schedule or ask the operator if you are not sure if your bus is just going to the Florissant Valley campus or also to retail and residential destinations.)
For this particular trip, the #76 Waterford pulls out of the North County Transit Center with a few passengers on board, including Vanetta. She has been riding Metro for a long time and relies on its service to get her to and from work each day. Her commute starts on the #47 Clayton-NCTC, and she transfers to the #76 Waterford at the North County Transit Center. Although the newest MetroBus service plan has only been in place since mid-March, Vanetta said that MetroBus service in North St. Louis County is better than it was before.
The bus passes West Florissant Avenue, making its first stop at the campus of St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley before continuing west on Pershall Road, where Vanetta exits the bus to head to work. The #76 Waterford then crosses Interstate 270 at Elizabeth and Washington Streets, and stops at the Grandview Plaza shopping center before quickly entering residential neighborhoods in Florissant.
McCluer North High School as well as the Florissant Civic Center and administrative offices of the Ferguson-Florissant School District come into view. After traveling past homes and parks, the bus turns east into the busy commercial sector of Lindbergh Boulevard, passing by the popular Flower Valley Shopping Centers and the Shoppes at Cross Keys.
The #76 Waterford continues rolling along northeast on Lindbergh Boulevard until it reaches Highway 367. From there, it uses the outer roads of Highway 367 to provide service to nearby businesses and the Mayfair Plaza shopping center. The bus route reaches the end of its journey east at Parker Road, and then starts its trek back toward homes, shops, schools and the North County Transit Center.
