Return to Blog

Metro Transit customers who use the Central West End MetroLink Station and/or Swansea Transit Center should be aware of upcoming construction work that may affect their commute. Customers should contact Metro Transit Information at 314.231.2345 (phone) or 314.207.9786 (text), Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for questions or assistance.

Central West End MetroLink Station | Friday, March 1 – Sunday, March 3

The west stairway at the Central West End MetroLink Station will be closed this weekend, starting the evening of Friday, March 1, through Sunday, March 3, to allow crews to perform maintenance work on the station platform.

The stairway will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, through the end of MetroLink service on Sunday evening, March 3. The Central West End Station elevator will be in service and available for customers during this period. The stairway will reopen for customers at the beginning of MetroLink service on Monday, March 4.

This construction work will not impact MetroLink trains or the east entrance to the Central West End Station platform that connects with MetroBus. That will remain open this weekend.

Swansea Transit Center | Monday, March 4 – Summer 2024

On Monday, March 4, Metro Transit will start a multi-phase maintenance and enhancement project at the Park-Ride lot at the Swansea Transit Center in Illinois. This project is expected to take several months and includes resurfacing the lot, replacing bus loops, repairing sewer inlets and other maintenance needs. The project is broken up in several phases to minimize the impact of construction to customers by focusing only on select areas during each phase.

During the construction work, it may be necessary for Metro Transit customers who use the Swansea Transit Center to park, walk or board their bus in a different area. All customers should look for and follow the posted signage for instructions on how to navigate around the construction areas.
