Stop By This Weekend’s Hiring Event on March

Metro Transit is inviting experienced mechanics and individuals who would like to join the team as Metro Call‑A‑Ride operators to come to the Illinois MetroBus Facility this Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the monthly Metro Transit hiring event. The Illinois MetroBus Facility is located at 801 North 47th Street in East St. Louis, Illinois, just off of Interstate 64 near the Washington Park Transit Center. Only applicants for Metro Call‑A‑Ride operator positions and mechanics with more than 5 years of experience will be interviewed at this event, with qualified candidates receiving on-the-spot job offers. Both of these essential positions qualify for a special $5,000 signing bonus that was extended until March 31.

Candidates are encouraged to learn more about the Metro Call‑A‑Ride operator and mechanic positions and to apply online in advance of Saturday’s hiring event by visiting WorkATMetroSTL.com. Applicants should bring their resumes with them on Saturday to make the on-site application process quicker and easier.  Starting pay for Metro Call‑A‑Ride operators is $17.85 an hour. You must be 18 years old to apply. At the February hiring event, 71 job offers were made to individuals who came and interviewed in person for Metro Call‑A‑Ride operator positions.

Starting pay for mechanics is $32.23 an hour. You must be 21 years old to be hired as a Metro Transit station mechanic.

Another special hiring event for experienced mechanics only will be held on Thursday, March 14, at the Brentwood MetroBus Facility from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Brentwood MetroBus Facility is located at 3000 South Brentwood, just south of Manchester Road. Qualified mechanics will be interviewed and potentially offered a job on the spot.
