Temporary Change to MetroLink Service Through Wednesday, Jan. 29

Return to Blog

1/26 UPDATE: The temporary change in MetroLink service has been extended to the end of the day on Wednesday, January 29.

A temporary change to MetroLink service is in place through Wednesday, January 29. During this period:

  • Blue Line MetroLink trains will only operate between the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 and Forest Park-DeBaliviere Stations. You will need to transfer between Blue Line and Red Line trains at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Station to continue your trip. Please allow an extra ten minutes if you need to transfer trains. You may need to adjust your commute if the added time impacts your bus connections.
  • Minor delays possible on Red Line MetroLink trains. Red Line MetroLink trains will operate on a single track between the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center and Fairview Heights Stations, which may cause five- to ten-minute delays for Red Line customers.

This temporary change in MetroLink service was put in place in mid-January as a safety precaution due to excessive ice and snow accumulation near a small area of MetroLink tracks in Illinois. Temperature changes causing melt of ice and snow immediately followed by refreezing have the potential to cause some shifting of the ground in this area, which could impact operations. Metro Engineering teams are using on-site electronic monitors and ongoing visual inspections to keep an eye on the conditions during this period to ensure the safety of our customers and team members.

Metro Transit Information is available to assist you through this temporary change in service. They are available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday at 314.231.2345 (phone) or 314.207.9786 (text).
