Bi-State Development Begins Exploring Bus Rapid Transit Option for Green Line Project
The Bi-State Development Board of Commissioners voted today to revise the Program Management Consultant contract to evaluate alternative conveyance options for the Green Line Project, with a focus on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). This potential shift to the Green Line Project was made at the request of St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer to enhance the project’s financial feasibility and strengthen its competitiveness for federal funding in Washington D.C.
“We will leverage the planning and engineering work already completed for the light rail alternative. By capitalizing on this preliminary work, we’ll have a significant advantage in timing and preparation,” said Taulby Roach, President & CEO of Bi-State Development. “Key components, such as environmental assessments and station locations, are already in place. The Green Line project can continue to move forward timely and efficiently.”
Bi-State Development remains committed to delivering a modern, sustainable and cost-effective transit solution that meets the needs of the St. Louis region.
