Metro Transit Prepares for Surge in Riders During U.S. Figure Skating Championships

Metro Transit is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to St. Louis for the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, taking place January 4-11. With more than 60,000 fans expected to visit the region to watch the final qualifier for the U.S. Olympic Team that will head to 2026 Winter Olympics, Metro Transit is stepping up to ensure smooth, reliable, and stress-free travel across the region.

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships main event will run from Jan. 7-10 at the Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis, accessible by MetroLink at the Civic Center MetroLink Station located directly south of Enterprise Center. With most hotels anticipated to be sold out and traffic congestion likely, Metro Transit offers the best way to navigate St. Louis for residents and visitors.

Metro Transit is providing additional resources to support riders heading to the event. Visitors can expect:

  • Convenient MetroLink Service: MetroLink connects Lambert International Airport, Amtrak’s Gateway Station, downtown St. Louis, and major attractions. Civic Center Station is steps away from the Enterprise Center, making it the easiest way to reach the championship finals.
  • On-Site Assistance: Metro Transit staff will be on-hand during peak travel hours at Lambert Airport and Civic Center Station, with experts available to assist visitors with directions, ticketing, and trip planning.
  • Event-Specific Wayfinding: Look for special welcome signage and wayfinding markers throughout MetroLink stations and key transit points to guide championship attendees quickly and easily to their destinations.

St. Louis residents and visitors using Metro are encouraged to plan their trip by downloading the Transit App or visiting MetroStLouis.org for schedules, real-time updates, and trip planning tools.

“Metro Transit is committed to making sure every visitor enjoys a smooth, stress-free experience while St. Louis hosts this world-class event” said Ron Forrest, Chief Operating Officer for Metro Transit. “With reliable service, on-site support, and event-specific signage, we’re ready to help skating fans enjoy their time without worrying about how to get around town.”
