About the Advisory Committee
The Metro Transit Accessibility Advisory Committee began in November 2024 to give riders with disabilities, older adults and the people who support them a direct connection to Metro. The group looks at accessibility and usability across every Metro Transit service, weighs in on projects and programs, provides feedback on policies and suggests solutions, and serves as a bridge between Metro Transit and the larger rider community. The advisory committee has 15 members supported by Metro’s ADA Services team. Several members of the group’s first class are wrapping up their terms at the end of 2026.
Who Should Apply?
Applicants should fit at least one of these descriptions:
- A person with a disability or an older adult who rides Metro Transit
- A family member or caregiver of someone who rides Metro Transit
- A professional or volunteer in disability or aging services who works with Metro riders
- An employer of people with disabilities or older adults who ride Metro Transit
The goal is to have an advisory committee that represents all of the different people who ride, so the selection process also considers members’ backgrounds and where they live across the Metro Transit service area. Current members whose terms are ending are welcome to reapply. Click Here to Apply
Committee Responsibilities
Members serve a three-year term that begins January 1. The committee meets six times a year, on the third Friday of every other month from 1 to 3 p.m. at the One Metropolitan Square building in downtown St. Louis. Every meeting also has a virtual Zoom option.
Members are asked to attend at least four of the six meetings each year, come ready to participate, and help spread the word about Metro initiatives to others in the disability community. Some members also step into leadership roles or join subcommittees.
How to Apply
Submit a Statement of Interest by Sunday, October 18, at metrostlouis.org/newmember. A selection committee made up of two current committee members and two Metro/Bi-State Development employees from outside ADA Services will review every submission.
Have questions? Email STLMetroTAAC@MetroStLouis.org or call 314-982-1525. You can also meet the current members, read the committee bylaws and find past meeting agendas and minutes at metrostlouis.org/accessibility/advisory-committee.
