Several MetroBus stops and the #56 Kirkwood-Webster MetroBus route will be impacted by the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) project to replace the Big Bend Blvd. Bridge, which begins on Friday, April 8, with the removal of the existing bridge. This work will require the temporary closure of Interstate 44 near the bridge and the section of Big Bend Boulevard that goes over the interstate.

MetroBus riders who board or exit their bus near the Big Bend Blvd. Bridge will need to use different bus stops, as several stops near the construction area will be out of service due to the detours. Signage is in place at all affected bus stops, with instructions on how to reach the nearest active bus stop.

The #56 Kirkwood-Webster MetroBus route will be rerouted through the duration of the bridge replacement project, which is scheduled to be completed in August 2022. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, April 8, through the end of the bridge replacement project, the #56 Kirkwood-Webster will be rerouted:

• Westbound | Regular routing to Big Bend Blvd. and Sappington Road. Left on Sappington to Watson Rd. Right on Watson Rd. to Kirkwood Rd. Right on Kirkwood Rd. to Big Bend Blvd. Left on Big Bend Blvd. to regular routing.
• Eastbound | Regular routing to Big Bend Blvd. and Kirkwood Rd. Right on Kirkwood, and then merge onto eastbound I-44. Exit at 27B and then right on Big Bend Blvd. to regular routing.
