The World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals will kick off their first home game of the season at Busch Stadium this Friday afternoon, April 13. Since the home opener is on a work day and parking will be at a premium, the best bet for Redbird fans is to take MetroLink to the game.

To avoid the cost and hassle of finding parking, Cardinals fans can use one of 19 free park-ride lots along the MetroLink system and take the train to the Stadium MetroLink Station or one of the other nearby MetroLink stations in downtown St. Louis to join in on the rallies or to dine before the game. Check the Metro Transit website www.metrostlouis.org for schedules and the closest park-ride lot. Metro has scheduled additional staff members to be on the MetroLink system Friday to assist baseball fans. Extra trains will be added, as needed, before and after the game.

There are also plenty of buses in Missouri and Illinois to get fans to Busch Stadium including the Redbird Express, which departs from the Water Tower at St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights, Illinois. The first Redbird Express leaves 2 ½ hours before the game and runs every 5 to 10 minutes. On Friday, the Redbird Express buses will begin running at 11 a.m. More information about the Redbird Express service can be found on the St. Clair County Transit District website, www.scctd.org, under the Special Services tab.

For additional information on MetroLink or MetroBus service, call Metro Transit Customer Service at 314-231-2345 or 618-271-2345 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
