Metro Offers Special MetroLink Rides & Tours as Part of National Train Day Tomorrow at Union Station
Metro transit is proud to join other transportation organizations and companies tomorrow, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to celebrate National Train Day at St. Louis Union Station located at 1820 Market Street. The event marks several St. Louis milestones including St. Louis’ 250th birthday, the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis, 120 years since the opening of St. Louis Union Station, and 110 years since the 1904 World’s Fair. The free event will feature a variety of activities for children and adults including interactive train equipment, a special train excursion, 3D show, entertainment, food and lots of fun.
Special MetroLink ride and VIP tour: The first 200 people who bring their Metro transit passes or tickets to the Metro table at the event Saturday will receive a VIP pass for a special VIP MetroLink ride and tour. The first VIP tour group will leave the Union Station MetroLink Station at 1 p.m. and return to Union Station at approximately 2:30 p.m. The second VIP tour group will board the train at 3:09 p.m. and return to Union Station at approximately 4:30 p.m. The VIP pass will entitle the holder to the assigned 1 p.m. tour or 3 p.m. tour of the Metro Missouri MetroLink facility. Only VIP pass holders will be permitted to board the special MetroLink trains at the designated times. The special passes are not valid fare for MetroLink or MetroBus.
National Train Day attendees will also be able to tour the newest addition to the MetroBus fleet– a 60-foot articulated bus which is composed of two sections linked by a pivoting joint. While some transit agencies in other cities already use articulated buses, Metro’s first articulated buses will go into service on the #70 Grand Line on June 9 to add capacity to Metro’s busiest route.
