The Holiday Magic Express is now traveling through the St. Louis region spreading holiday cheer. The specially decorated train, decked out in lights, ornaments and garland, will travel along both Red and Blue Lines as part of its regular rail service between Friday, November 26 and December 31 from morning to afternoon rush hours on weekdays, and from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on select weekend days. Normal MetroLink fares apply.

Metro and the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission (CVC) came together to make the Holiday Magic Express train possible.  “We wanted to celebrate the holiday season and thank the region for its support of public transit. The Convention and Visitors Commission and KDHX have made that possible,” said Ray Friem, Metro’s Chief Operating Officer.

The holiday train concept was first introduced to Metro through an online social media campaign from St. Louis residents who had seen similar trains in other cities. This year, thanks to the design and decorations donated by the CVC, the Holiday Magic Express will illuminate the St. Louis region throughout the holiday season.

“I hope everyone enjoys the Holiday Magic Express as much as we enjoyed bringing it to them. People can use the train to arrive at the festive Holiday Magic celebration December 3 – 5 at the America’s Center convention complex,” says Brian Hall, Chief Marketing Officer for the St. Louis CVC. “Holiday Magic is St. Louis’ newest tradition that includes shopping, live entertainment, carnival rides and ice skating all in the comfort of indoors.”
