Ride On to Victory: Take Metro Transit to a Big Sports Weekend in Downtown St. Louis

[ST. LOUIS, MO/March 1, 2023]  Thousands of sports fans will pack the streets of downtown St. Louis this weekend, and Metro Transit is the perfect way to get to all of the fun and excitement of St. Louis City SC’s first home opener and the Arch Madness basketball tournament.

The action starts on Thursday, March 2, with the start of Arch Madness, the Missouri Valley Conference basketball tournament, at the Enterprise Center. The four-day tournament runs through Sunday, March 5. The festivities for St. Louis City SC’s inaugural home game at CITYPARK Stadium begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 3, with the CITY Block Party, located just east of the stadium. The block party continues through Saturday, March 4, ending just before kick-off of St. Louis City SC’s game Saturday against Charlotte FC at 7:30 p.m.

Metro Transit makes it easy to enjoy this weekend’s sporting events safely, comfortably and conveniently:

  • Park at any of the 21 free Park-Ride lots at MetroLink stations in both Missouri and Illinois.
  • Purchase a $5 Day Pass on your mobile device using the Transit app or at a Ticket Vending Machine which are located at every MetroLink station and Metro Transit Center.
  • Enjoy the ride on MetroLink to the Civic Center MetroLink Station, located just south of Enterprise Center where the Arch Madness tournament is being held, or to the Union Station MetroLink Station, located just southeast of CITYPARK Stadium where St. Louis City SC plays.

MetroBus is another option to getting to downtown St. Louis this weekend. Sports fans can catch any of more than a dozen MetroBus routes that serve the Civic Center Transit Center, located just south of the Enterprise Center and a few blocks east of CITYPARK Stadium. Due to large crowds expected in downtown St. Louis all weekend, Metro will have security and transit personnel located throughout the system to assist customers.

To plan your trip to these downtown sporting events, download the Transit app to your mobile device, use the maps and schedules on or contact Metro Transit Information by phone at 314.231.2345 or by text at 314.207.9786, available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
