State of Illinois Adds New COVID-19 Testing Location in Metro East and Additional Testing Dates at Emerson Park Transit Center

Free testing has been expanded to two Metro Transit Centers in St. Clair County

The State of Illinois is expanding the number and locations of free mobile COVID-19 testing sites at Metro Transit Centers in St. Clair County. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) initially scheduled mobile COVID-19 testing at the Emerson Park Transit Center in East St. Louis for every Wednesday in March, starting on March 10. Now the IDPH will bring mobile COVID-19 testing to the Emerson Park Transit Center every Monday and Wednesday in March and mobile COVID-19 testing will be offered at the Belleville Transit Center on Thursdays this month. The free testing will be available from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. or until the daily supplies run out. There are no residency or insurance restrictions. All are welcome.

Emerson Park Transit Center

The mobile testing sites will accommodate anyone who walks up or drives-through the Park-Ride lots at the Emerson Park Transit Center and the Belleville Transit Center on the select dates. More than 800 parking spaces are available at the Emerson Park Transit Center located at 929 North 15th Street in East St. Louis. It is served by MetroLink; the #6 Rosemont, #8 Alta Sita and #9 Washington Park MetroBus routes; and the #5 Tri-City Regional, #18 Collinsville Regional, #14X Highland Express and #20X Gateway Commerce Center Express bus routes from Madison County Transit.

Nearly 300 parking spaces are available at the Belleville Transit Center located at 800 Scheel Street, in Belleville, and it is served by MetroLink and the #1 Main Street – State Street, #15 Belleville-Shiloh/O’Fallon, #16 St. Clair Square, and #17 Carlyle Plaza-17th Street MetroBus routes.

Simple nasal swabs are utilized for the free COVID-19 tests and participants will receive their results over the phone within 4 to 7 days. Individuals who have medical coverage should bring their insurance cards. Uninsured residents will have the same opportunity to be tested.
