MetroBus Stop Update: Nearly 80 Stops Will Remain

Return to Blog

Thanks to your feedback, Metro Transit will keep some of the bus stops that had been identified for relocation or removal. We asked for your feedback, you gave it, and we listened and made adjustments where we could.

Nearly 80 of the 450 selected bus stops will remain in place, and will not be removed or relocated. These stops will continue to be served by MetroBus. About 370 MetroBus stops in St. Louis County and in the City of St. Louis are being or will be removed or relocated. Here is the latest revised bus stop list:

Bus Stops Retained | Bus Stops Removed/Relocated

At the end of June, Rider Alert signs were attached to each of the bus stops that were identified for relocation or removal. On July 15, Metro Transit began the long process of relocating or removing some of those 450 bus stops, which are all located in the City of St. Louis and in St. Louis County.

The stops were identified during a comprehensive analysis of the spacing of the more than 5,400 bus stops that are currently part of the MetroBus system in Missouri. This analysis identified certain bus stops as being in close proximity to another stop, typically within one block. By relocating or removing these stops, MetroBus operators will be able to improve on-time performance by avoiding making more frequent stops, block after block, which slow down your bus commute as well as slow down vehicle traffic on the street.

To inform you about bus stop changes, we provide two-weeks advance notice of any change in transit service. It’s important to keep in mind MetroBus will continue to serve all selected bus stops until they’ve been relocated or removed.

Metro Transit planners make changes to MetroBus service every quarter in order to create a more efficient transit system. These regular quarterly changes are not part of our Metro Reimagined project.

For more information, or to find out if your stop is impacted, you can contact Metro Transit Information, available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 314-231-2345 (phone), 314-207-9786 (text) or through web chat, by clicking the red chat icon in the lower right corner.

  1. Phil says:

95 SB at Parker could be eliminated. It is only 1 short block south of Fyler. Need to retain 95 NB at Parker, though.

    1. Matthew Hibbard says:

Phil, thank you for letting us know. I can for sure send this over to planning for review. Thanks!

  2. Brandon R. says:

Now can we get some changes to the “Metro Reimagined” plan?

    1. Matthew Hibbard says:

Brandon, we plan to release the final version sometime this month. When this version is released, you can look through it and start crafting your transit commute.

  3. let’s be fair and not take all of the north side bus stop. These stops are desperately need.

  4. Jerome says:

Are the Hazelwood industrial parks stops (bus 35) still scheduled to be removed ? and if yes, are there any news on an “Alternate transportation services” ?

    1. Jerry says:

Under the new Metro Reimagined plan, the new #100 Hazelwood Connector will offer service to the Hazelwood industrial area. Learn more by checking the Metro Reimagined page – metrostlouis.org/reimagined.

  5. Joe Frank says:

It looks like there will be new stops on River des Peres Parkway for the #9 Oakville. 1 pair at Loughborough and 1 pair at Olde English Road. Will those be in place on September 30? There’s not really any kind of pull-over lane nor shoulder at those intersections.

    1. Jerry says:

There will be stops at those locations on September 30. There currently isn’t pedestrian right-of-way, but those locations are on our list to add bus stop improvements when funding is available.

  6. Jerome says:

I appreciate that you provided that new route, several people in my bus were worried. However a bus once an hour, with very few stops (in winter…. when that area is so not walkable)…

I am going to get a car after six years of Metrolink + bus 44 (now 35).

  7. Dawn Cook says:

So you’re planning on screwing around almost everyone that takes the 39. The route is already an hour route and would have more riders if it had a third bus. Lots of riders have said that. But now many people will have absolutely no alternatives to get to work or other places.

  8. Linda grams says:

So will the 78 continue to go down trampe ave in Spanish lake. Many high school students and college students need that route including me being in college . U guys are takin a route that some of us need that live back there by lairmore.

    1. Matthew Hibbard says:

Linda, under the bus redesign plan, the #78 Larimore will be replaced and will instead be served by the new #60 Shepley-Lilac (30-min frequencies), 75 Christian Hospital (30-min frequencies) and #78 Bellefontaine (30-min frequencies) routes. The plan does not provide bus service on Trampe Avenue in Spanish Lake. The closest bus service will be at the intersection of Trampe Avenue and Bellefontaine Road via the 75 Christian Hospital.
