Media Advisory: Fire Department Training on MetroLink

Patti Beck
Interim Director of Communications
314-982-1440

MetroLink will be conducting a training exercise with the St. Louis Fire Department at the 8th and Pine MetroLink Station tomorrow, March 30, from 9 a.m. until noon. We wanted to let the media and our customers know in advance so they are not alarmed if they see the fire engines and firefighters tomorrow and so they know the firefighters are not responding to a real emergency. It is important the St. Louis Fire Department responders are familiar with our system in the event of a real emergency.

Single track operations are already scheduled at the 8th & Pine Station tomorrow so it is a safe time to conduct the training without adding further delays for MetroLink customers. Red Line passengers should allow for 5 to 10 minute delays due to maintenance work at the Stadium MetroLink Station tomorrow and Sunday (March 31). The Blue Line will only operate between Shrewsbury and Forest Park-DeBaliviere beginning tonight at 8 through end of service Sunday night.

Metro is the operator of the Metro public transportation system for the St. Louis region, which includes the 87 vehicle, 46-mile MetroLink light rail system; 387 MetroBus vehicle fleet that operates on 75 MetroBus routes; and Metro Call‑A‑Ride, a paratransit fleet of 121 vans.

Metro also owns and operates St. Louis Downtown Airport and its surrounding industrial business park, and the Gateway Arch Riverboats, as well as operates the Gateway Arch Revenue Collections Center, the Gateway Arch Transportation System, and the Gateway Arch Parking Facility.
