WHERE: Scott Avenue Transit Plaza beneath the Grand Bridge just west of Theresa 3450 Scott Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63103

SIGNIFICANCE: The #70 Grand is the busiest route on the entire MetroBus system with customers taking about three million trips a year on Grand Boulevard. Together, the City of St. Louis and Metro Transit have made a significant contribution to the city’s infrastructure by improvements to both the bridge and the transit plaza on Scott Avenue below.

The #70 Grand, #58X Twin Oaks Express, and the #410 Eureka Express MetroBus routes have been detoured since the bridge was closed in March 2011. The Grand MetroLink Station was also closed while contractors for the City of St. Louis removed the old bridge and constructed a new one. Metro used the opportunity to improve the MetroBus area on the bridge deck and to create the Scott Avenue Transit Plaza below.

MetroBus customers will notice new seating, more lights, and new bus lanes for safer boarding and deboarding. New elevators and stairs connect the MetroBus areas to the Grand MetroLink Station. There is now a transit plaza on Scott Avenue providing Metro customers a safe, well lit area to wait for a MetroLink train. Another new feature at the Grand MetroLink Station is a 58 space Park-Ride lot.
