Metro Transit’s Holiday Music Series Continues with Live Performances on Friday and Saturday

Metro Transit’s holiday music series kicks into full gear this week with live performances tomorrow (Dec. 7) at the Belleville MetroLink Station and the first onboard concert of the season is Saturday (Dec. 8) on the MetroLink Blue Line.

Holiday spirit will radiate from the Belleville MetroLink Station at noon tomorrow (Dec. 7) as the Signal Hill School Choir performs. Made up of 40 sixth, seventh and eighth graders from Belleville’s Signal Hill School, the choir will delight commuters and lunchtime visitors with a 30-minute set of holiday carols.

On Saturday (Dec. 8), Metro presents Chamber Project St. Louis onboard the Holiday Magic Train on the Blue Line. Part of Chamber Project St. Louis’ mission includes ‘creating partnerships with both traditional and non-traditional venues’ and playing aboard moving train certainly qualifies as that!

The Chamber Project St. Louis duo consists of flutist Jennifer Gartley and violinist Hannah Frey. Gartley teaches music at McKendree University and has been a regular performer with Winter Opera St. Louis among other orchestras. Frey teaches violin at the St. Louis School of Music and was the former Assistant Concertmaster of the Cleveland Chamber Symphony.

The Holiday Magic Train departs the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station Saturday (Dec. 8) at 12:12 p.m. and returns to the station at 2:11 p.m. The train will travel to the Shrewsbury MetroLink Station and back. Stay onboard for the entire show or make it part of your Saturday outing by catching the holiday train at any stop along the way. The schedule below shows the times the Holiday Magic Train will arrive at each Blue Line station during the onboard concert by Chamber Project St. Louis.

The cost of the concert is a ticket to ride. Regular fare or a valid Metro pass is required.
