MetroLink Operations Update

The inspection of overhead MetroLink wires this week in Illinois between the Fairview Heights and Memorial Hospital stations was completed earlier than anticipated. So, the nightly scheduled single track operations at the Memorial Hospital MetroLink Station have been cancelled for tonight, tomorrow night and Thursday night (Jan. 31-Feb 2).
Other MetroLink maintenance work is still planned for Friday evening this week and Blue Line customers will need to allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes for their Friday night commutes.
On Friday, February 3, MetroLink crews will replace the overhead wires near Union Station. In order to give the workers access to the wires, MetroLink will operate on a single track between the Union Station and Civic Center MetroLink Stations from 8:00 p.m. until the end of service Friday night.
Blue Line trains will only operate from the Forest Park MetroLink Station to the Shrewsbury MetroLink Station during this time period.
Westbound Blue Line passengers traveling between the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station and the Central West End MetroLink Station should board a Red Line train to the Forest Park MetroLink Station to catch a Blue Line train. Eastbound Blue Line passengers traveling between the Central West End MetroLink Station and the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station should board a Red Line train at the Forest Park station to continue eastbound.
Blue Line passengers should allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes for their commutes. Red Line customers may experience 5-minute delays.
