Metro Transit in St. Louis continues to see ridership grow, especially among MetroBus customers. Metro Transit led the nation in the first quarter of 2012 with the largest increase in bus ridership among transit agencies, at 15.6 percent for January, February and March. To address the increased number of MetroBus boardings, Metro Transit is increasing the frequency of service and adding trips to routes experiencing heavier demand. The service changes go into effect on Monday, June 11. A summary of the changes is below.

“We are using more technology and diligently working with MetroBus operators to ensure that our on-time performance for MetroBus exceeds 90 percent,” said Jessica Mefford-Miller, Metro Chief of Planning and System Development.

Among the routes receiving additional service is the Downtown Trolley. The #99 Downtown Trolley will begin Sunday service starting June 17. The Trolley will run on Sundays from 10:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. with 16-minute service.

In addition to the added trips and more frequent service on some MetroBus routes, The Muny Trolley will operate from June 18 through August 12 for another season in Forest Park, as part of a partnership between Metro and The Muny Theatre. The 3X Muny Trolley will transport Muny customers every 20 minutes between the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station and the Muny Theatre from 7:22 p.m. each night until after the shows.
