Passenger Profile: Paula

Return to Blog

Passengers like Paula depend on Metro transit to get to work, school and other important destinations. We hope you enjoy her story, and we’re interested in your transit story too. Email mrhibbard@bistatedev.org, and we may share your story in a future “Passenger Profile.”

Four years ago, Paula’s car was stolen. While many of us would only see that as a downside, Paula saw a silver lining — it was an opportunity to shift gears to a no-car lifestyle.

“When my car got stolen, I decided at that time to not get another one,” she said. “It wasn’t a hard decision to make.”

Today, Paula relies on Metro. To get to work, Paula boards the #13 Caseyville-Marybelle MetroBus route in Illinois and rides the bus to the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station. From there, she boards a Blue Line train and rides to the Clayton MetroLink Station.

Outside of work, Paula uses Metro do accomplish all sorts of chores on her to-do list from paying bills to going to the store — all while helping her save some money and avoid some stress.

“I don’t have to worry about traffic,” she said. “I don’t have to worry about gas or car insurance.”
