Metro Transit Service Change Scheduled for March 21

Metro Transit will make adjustments to schedules and service frequency for 18 Missouri MetroBus routes in the City of St. Louis and in St. Louis County on Monday, March 21. There are no changes to MetroBus routes in Illinois or to MetroLink train schedules.

Like other transit agencies throughout the country, Metro Transit has been impacted by ongoing workforce shortages driven by COVID-19 and a highly competitive labor market. This has affected Metro’s ability to deliver reliable service. Due to a shortage of bus operators, it has been sometimes necessary to cancel scheduled MetroBus trips on a daily basis, which leads to inconvenient delays for MetroBus customers.

The changes to MetroBus service scheduled for March 21 are being implemented to improve service reliability, minimize cancelled bus trips, and match service levels to workforce resources so Metro Transit can consistently deliver scheduled transit service. In addition, Metro continues to focus on recruitment and training of new operators, offering increased operator pay and a $2,000 hiring bonus.

Details for the March 21 Service Change are available below. New schedules and route maps for the affected MetroBus routes that serve the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County will be available on the Metro Transit website beginning on Monday, March 7. Transit riders who have questions or would like assistance are encouraged to contact Metro Transit Information at 314.207.9786 (text) or 314.231.2345 (phone), available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
