Ride Metro to the Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday

Thousands of volunteers, breast cancer survivors and their families and friends will be heading to downtown St. Louis on Saturday, June 11, for the 2016 Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure, and Metro is a great option for race participants to get to the starting line while avoiding street closures, traffic and parking issues. Participants can park for free at any one of 21 Metro Park-Ride lots in Missouri and Illinois and take MetroLink or MetroBus to the race events.

MetroLink will operate on a regular Saturday schedule, with trains arriving in downtown St. Louis every 10 minutes. Station platforms will be monitored throughout the morning and extra service will be added, if needed. Race participants can ride MetroLink to the Civic Center MetroLink Station and the Union Station MetroLink Stations in downtown St. Louis, which are both just a few blocks away from the race registration area and starting line. Passengers riding to the Civic Center Station should note that the north pathway from the station to Clark Avenue is closed due to construction, so they will exit the MetroLink platform and go up the stairs to 14th Street and then head north to get to the Komen for the Cure.

MetroBus is another great option for getting to downtown St. Louis. Race participants can ride on one of 13 MetroBus routes to the Union Station MetroLink Station and walk a few blocks to the race site near Soldier’s Memorial.

Metro will have extra security and extra personnel on Saturday morning to assist passengers. Ticket agents will be available at the following MetroLink stations:

  • North Hanley
  • Central West End
  • Clayton
  • Brentwood I-64
  • Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44
  • Civic Center
  • East Riverfront
  • 5th & Missouri
  • Fairview Heights
  • Swansea
  • Memorial Hospital
  • College
  • Shiloh-Scott

Ticket agents accept cash only. Metro passes can be purchased with credit and debit cards at Ticket Vending Machines located at every MetroLink station. Round trip tickets on MetroLink are $5.
