Great cooperation and hard work are credited with bringing MetroLink transit back to full service almost four days ahead of schedule and in time for the evening rush hour on New Year’s Eve. “We’re really pleased to be able to offer direct MetroLink service to Blues Fans, visitors at the Convention Center and families going to First Night activities on Grand Avenue,” said Ray Friem, Metro’s Chief Operating Officer of Transit Services. “We’re also proud of how smoothly the bus bridge service managed to carry commuters around the construction site this week. Delays for customers were minimal, but facing one of the coldest nights of the year, direct service will be a real benefit for our customers.”
The $5 million project to replace the 80-year old bridge and improve Vandeventer Avenue under the bridge began in mid-November and is expected to be completed by early spring.
