MetroLink will operate on a single track Saturday and Sunday evenings this weekend to accommodate rail grinding maintenance work.

Saturday, April 7, from 8 p.m. until the end of service, MetroLink will conduct rail grinding on the tracks between the Central West End and Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Stations. To accommodate the crews, MetroLink will operate on a single track at the Central West End MetroLink Station. Red Line and Blue Line passengers may experience 5 minute delays.

Sunday, April 8, from 8 p.m. until the end of service, MetroLink will conduct rail grinding on the tracks between the Union Station and the Stadium MetroLink Stations. To accommodate the crews, MetroLink will operate on a single track at the Union Station and the Civic Center MetroLink Stations.

During the single track operation on Sunday, Blue Line trains will only operate between the Forest Park-DeBaliviere and Shrewsbury I-44 MetroLink Stations. Westbound Blue Line passengers traveling between the Fairview Heights and the Central West End MetroLink Stations will need to board a Red Line train and transfer to a Blue Line train at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station. Eastbound Blue Line passengers traveling between the Central West End and Fairview Heights MetroLink Stations should board a Red Line train at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station to travel eastbound. Blue Line passengers should allow an extra 10 minutes for their commutes. Red Line passengers may experience five minute delays.

NOTE: As the special rail grinding equipment slowly moves down the tracks through different communities, it is important to remind residents that the rail grinder creates sparks. On occasion, these sparks will touch off small fires along the tracks. A fire suppression crew follows directly behind the rail grinder to immediately douse any flames. Metro has contacted emergency responders in the affected communities in advance.
