Flashback Friday
Return to BlogToday’s photo looks east on Chestnut Street from 11th Street during evening rush hour in the 1940s. You probably don’t recognize the buildings on the right since that area is now part of the Gateway Mall and CityGarden.
This same area will be the site of tomorrow’s St. Patrick’s Day parade and run. Click here to learn more about it and how to ride Metro to all of the festivities.
Have a great weekend!

An interesting side fact about this photo is that it is Chestnut and the traffic is going west, not east. Chestnut was one way eastbound in the 40s & 50s, like it is now, except in the evening rush hour when it was one way westbound.
