Flashback Friday

Return to Blog

This is the intersection of Tower Grove and Vandeventer Avenues in 1909. This was once a very dangerous crossroads. The Missouri Pacific and the St. Louis and San Francisco (Frisco) Railroads crossed at grade. By 1909, 125 trains, 400 streetcars, 2,400 vehicles and 6,000 pedestrians passed through every 24 hours. A bridge carrying Vandeventer and Tower Grove over the tracks opened on July 31, 1915.

Have a great weekend!
