MetroBus Will Shuttle MetroLink Customers between Union Station and the Central West End Again this Weekend
There will be no MetroLink service between the Union Station and Central West End MetroLink Stations again this weekend, March 26-27, due to the ongoing demolition of the Grand Bridge just south of Highway 40. Metro will shuttle customers by bus from the beginning of service (4:10 a.m.) Saturday, March 26, until the end of service Sunday night/Monday morning (1:30 a.m.). In addition, customers can expect up to 10 minute delays starting at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, to accommodate bridge demolition.
The section of MetroLink track running beneath Grand Boulevard is expected to reopen by the start of MetroLink service on Monday, March 28, allowing trains to travel beneath the construction area. However, trains will not stop at the Grand MetroLink Station during the first few weeks of the initial bridge demolition process. Customers who normally use the Grand MetroLink Station will need to deboard at the Union Station MetroLink Station to connect with the #70 Grand. The #70 Grand MetroBus serves the areas around the Grand MetroLink Station.
MetroBus customers traveling near the Grand Bridge construction project should plan an extra 15 – 20 minutes for their commute. As the City of St. Louis replaces the Grand Bridge, Metro will construct a new transit plaza at the Grand MetroLink Station on Scott Avenue which will feature seating, ticket vending, improved lighting and a new park-ride lot.
